Open Strings Music: Musical Box Scheme
This is an exciting new pilot scheme for Brighton & Hove: a partnership between Open Strings Music and Impact Initiatives, funded by Thomas Deane Trust.
Musical Box Scheme is an opportunity to make music together and share the music you love with us, a friend, or loved one. We know from experience that not everyone can attend groups so we are offering people the chance for us to come to you. Research shows that making music together improves wellbeing, whatever your interest or ability.
The scheme is completely free: we bring everything for an hour of music and chat. We’ll also bring a notebook for you to jot down anything you’ve enjoyed between visits.
No music-making experience is necessary. All we ask is that you are able to host a visit from us once a month for six months.
What a visit looks like:
- 50 minutes of music-making and chat
- the chance to try out and borrow instruments
- listening and playing along with professional musicians
- developing your very own music playlist
- playing and having fun together
Who will be coming round?
You will be visited once a month by our specially-trained musician, volunteer, and community worker. We are fully insured and DBS-checked.
