Always wanted to play a stringed instrument? Now you can! If you can place a finger on a string then you can enjoy playing as part of these sessions.
Over the course of this programme, you will:
• get to know each type of instrument: violin, viola & cello
• learn the basics of string playing
• play pizzicato and with the bow
• play in small and large groups to create music together
• have fun making music!
Come along to our pilot on 24th July and find out more!
Playing an instrument in a group helps us relax and focus – it also keeps our fingers supple. Bowed string instruments are very versatile, as well as having a beautiful sound. In the group we play familiar melodies as well as making our own.
The sessions are run by Autism Sussex and Impetus in partnership with Open Strings Music CIC, and facilitated by professional cellist and Goldsmiths-trained music leader Isabel Emerson.
This pilot session is suitable for any adult on the autism spectrum: complete musical beginner or more experienced. All instruments are provided – numbers are limited so book your place now: call 01273 623412.
