Sing Healthy Play Happy – ‘a great space to feel free’
Sing Healthy Play Happy is a FREE weekly dementia-friendly creative music for people of all abilities, commissioned by Brighton & Hove CCG between 2016 & 2019.
WINTER ’17, Brighton & Hove:
Mondays 2-3:30pm Lavender House: 23rd January – 3rd April (NB: no session 13th March)
Fridays 10:45am-12:15pm Hop 50+: 3rd February – 7th April
**We’re launching our Spring ’17 projects in Dementia Awareness Week in May – watch this space for details of times, dates, and locations…**
In these fun, gentle and supportive sessions we:
• sing familiar and new songs together
• explore instruments and sounds
• make new friends
• move gently to music
• have fun!
Making music together is good for us! It lifts our spirits and helps us relax – it can really take us out of ourselves and give us a break, even for a short while.
“I love every moment. I hope these sessions go on for ever. They set you up for the week”
“Coming here is the most special time of my week…I wouldn’t be here in this chair if it weren’t for all of you.”
“I really enjoyed that. It’s a good idea to help people to communicate”
All sessions are free – come and try us out! No musical experience is necessary. NB: Pre-booking is essential.
Sing Healthy Play Happy is an Open Strings Music CIC project, commissioned by Brighton & Hove CCG. The sessions are facilitated by community musicians trained at Goldsmiths University of London & OPUS.
